POINT OF VIEW

Point of view is the narrator's position in relation to the story being told.

In Graduation Day, the point of view is first person. First person point of view means that the narrator, Cia, is speaking about herself and sharing events that she is currently experiencing. This point of view shares not only Cia's external encounters and dialogue with others, but her internal thoughts as well. In first person POV, the narrator will use pronouns such as I, me, mine, myself, we, us, ours, and ourselves.

Examples from Graduation Day demonstarting First Person POV:

"Careful to make sure no one is nearby, I pull out a paper and pencil to organize my thoughts. I wonder who can be trusted, or if I should trust anyone at all."

"As much as I want to end The Testing, I am equally determined to find those who have not lived up to Dr. Barnes's standards. My eyes glance at the bracelet on my wrist. I no longer have a use for it, but I have yet to take it off."
